Discovered and named by Captain Cook on July 3rd 1770, the Whitsunday passage includes 74 untouched islands and a unique natural environment that leaves a lasting impression on anyone who is lucky enough to visit.

It wasn’t until the 1920s the first resort style settlement began to develop in the area. Sir Reginald Ansett was the first developer to build the modern resort style accommodation on Daydream and Hayman Island. Today the development is capped to only nine islands in order to preserve the region's natural beauty. The region has become a treasured Australian icon, which will be preserved for generations to come.
